LA Gallery Show and Book Signings 10/17 - 10/18

LA Gallery Show and Book Signings 10/17 - 10/18

Jack Gallery/S2 Art Group, the world leader in limited-edition fine art lithography, will be hosting a celebration of Patrickʼs newest collection of paintings on paper and canvas along with the release of his latest book South, published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. At the heart of the exhibition are 50+ unique works of art created by Patrick, including a collection of paintings on paper and canvas and ink and watercolor drawings. Nearly all of the images are reminiscent of the graceful artwork encountered in South, and a majority focus on Earl and Mooch.

Three special events will be held at Jack Gallery in Los Angeles. In conjunction with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a public book signing and art showing is scheduled for October 17, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. In addition, an exhibition benefiting the YES! on Prop 2 campaign to stop animal cruelty will be open to the public from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on October 18. On the night of October 18, an exhibition hosted by Michael Markarian, Executive Vice President of The Humane Society of the United States, will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for select invitees and HSUS supporters. Patrick will be in attendance for each event.

If you do not live in the LA area, but would like to view or purchase some of the artwork that will be exhibited, you can do so online.

And if you still haven't picked up a copy of the book South yet, you can do so at your local book store or online retailer.

MUTTS Helping Farm Animals with Prop 2

MUTTS Helping Farm Animals with Prop 2

In conjunction with his Los Angeles gallery exhibit, Patrick has created artwork to raise awareness and funding for passing Proposition 2, a proposition on Californiaʼs statewide ballot that would promote the humane treatment of farm animals and protect food safety. Prop 2 will phase out the inhumane confinement of farm animals in tiny crates and cages where they can barely move for their entire lives on industrial factory farms. Veterinarians, consumer groups and California family farmers all support Prop 2 because animal welfare, food quality and food safety are enhanced by better farming practices. Factory farms cut corners and drive family farmers out of business when they put profits ahead of animal welfare and our health.

If you are interested in learning more about Prop 2, please visit this website for more information. And if you are not yet registered to vote, don't forget to do so!  November is right around the corner.

Shelters ROCK!

Shelters ROCK!

National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week was created to acknowledge and promote the invaluable role shelters play in their communities, and to increase public awareness of animal welfare issues and shelter services. To commemorate this year's National Shelter Appreciation Week (Nov. 2nd- 8th), Patrick has created series of strips highlighting the joys of shelter pet adoption. Working with this year's Shelters Rock theme,  Earl and Mooch will do their best to convince others that the easiest way to become a rock star is by adopting a shelter pet!

Show your appreciation for your local animal shelter year round.  Read the top 10 ways on how you can help!

Shelter Stories Pet of the Month

Shelter Stories Pet of the Month

Did you know that rabbits are the 3rd most common pets surrendered to animal shelters? One such rabbit, Sammy, arrived at 3 Bunnies Rabbit Rescue in need of a home.  Although many rabbits are surrendered when the 'Easter novelty ' wears off, Sammy's ear notch suggested that he may have been surrendered by a rabbit breeder. Sammy was long overdue for a home and his current guardian knew that a loving, indoor home was just what he needed.  This lucky bun is described as "super-bright" and "patient" and often just "kicks back and contemplates life." But Sammy also has an impulsive side and enjoys dashing down the hall doing his best Gene Kelly impersonation! Sounds like Sammy has some real bunny charisma!

If you are interested in adopting a rabbit, we suggest that you learn more about their care, and then visit your local shelter or rabbit rescue group.

It's Greyt!

It's Greyt!

The otherworldly beauty, quiet grace, and loving disposition of the retired racing greyhound were Barbara Karant’s inspiration for Greyhounds. By photographing her subjects against a pristine white background, Karant captures the dogs’ indomitable spirit—their spunk, humor, mystery, and charm. Karant’s gloriously expressive pictures, are accompanied by evocative texts by Alice Sebold and other writers. A portion of the profits of this book will benefit greyhound rescue, so purchase a copy at your local bookstore or online retailer.

If you live in Massachusetts, please read about the Greyhound Protection Act and on November 4th Vote YES on Prop 3!

Halloween Doesn't Have to Be Scary for Your Pets
